                                                                                                                          ABOUT MAMPROBI HOSPITAL

Mamprobi Hospital, located in the Ablekuma South Sub-Metropolitan District of Accra, Ghana, stands as a vital institution in the country’s healthcare system. Its origins trace back to the 1960s, when it was first established as Mamprobi Clinic. At that time, the facility served primarily as an outreach point for Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, providing community-based health services to residents of Mamprobi and its surrounding areas. This early role reflected Ghana’s commitment to extending healthcare beyond major hospitals and into local communities.

Over the decades, Mamprobi Clinic grew in importance, eventually becoming Mamprobi Polyclinic. As Accra’s population expanded, the demand for accessible healthcare in the Ablekuma South area increased significantly. To meet this need, the government, through the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), took decisive action. On July 9, 2021, Mamprobi Polyclinic was officially upgraded to Mamprobi Hospital, marking a new chapter in its history A B C.

The upgrade was not merely symbolic; it was a strategic move to ease pressure on Korle Bu Teaching Hospital and other nearby facilities. By elevating Mamprobi to hospital status, the government ensured that residents could access a wider range of services locally, including general medicine, dental care, child health, and emergency services. This transformation also meant that Mamprobi Hospital could operate as a primary-level hospital, capable of handling more complex cases without immediate referral.

Mamprobi Hospital now operates 24 hours daily, serving as a reliable healthcare provider for thousands of residents. Its location near landmarks such as the Mamprobi Central Mosque and Nazareth Methodist Church makes it easily accessible to the community. Beyond its medical role, the hospital symbolizes Ghana’s broader effort to decentralize healthcare delivery, ensuring that every district has facilities capable of meeting modern health demands.

In essence, Mamprobi Hospital’s journey from a small clinic in the 1960s to a full hospital in 2021 reflects both the growth of Accra and the evolution of Ghana’s healthcare system. It stands today as a beacon of progress, offering hope, care, and accessibility to the people of Mamprobi and beyond.
